Cuttack City bagged a double by winning both the boys` and girls` titles in the 15th Sub-Junior Inter-District Sepak-takraw Championship at Barabati Stadium here today. In the finals, Cuttack City girls beat Bhadrak.by 2-0 sets, while their boys got the better of Mayurbhanj 2-1.
The champion teams received the ACPL Trophy and a cash prize of Rs 5,000 each, while the losing finalists were given Rs 2,500 each. The best player awards were claimed by Cuttack City girl Aliva Das and Myurbhanj boy Anil Kumar Mukhi. Sushama Sahoo (Bhadrak) and Bhawani Sankar Jena (Keonjhar) pocketed the prizes as best upcoming girl and boy respectively.
Post the inter-district championship, coaching-cum-selection camp commenced at Barabati Stadium on Wednesday for the composition of the state teams for the Sub-Junior National Championship, scheduled to be held next year at Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh from January 10 to 14.
